Medlink Air - LaCrosse, WI
The MedLink AIR helicopter is a twin-engine EC-145 aircraft. Traveling at an average speed of 153 mph, the EC-145 is designed and equipped to transport up to two critically ill or injured persons at one time and a full complement of trained personnel and specialized equipment from accident scenes and referring hospitals to tertiary care facilities.
The helicopter is particularly well suited to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) environment and the geography of our service area. The helicopter is able to fly day or night in most weather conditions. It is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, navigation and communications capabilities, including a satellite flight following system which precisely tracks the aircraft's path minute by minute.
The aircraft is maintained by a dedicated, certified mechanic, and flown by pilots with thousands of hours of helicopter flight time.
MedLink AIR is available to care for and transport high-risk maternal patients. Benefits of this service include higher infant survival rates, higher APGAR scores, shorter hospital stays and enhanced maternal bonding.
MedLink AIR is also available to transport any infant requiring advanced specialized care or observation. A special neonatal transport team also is available and includes a neonatal nurse practitioner, a respiratory therapist and a flight nurse.
